Women Ordination in Catholic and Orthodox Churches: Lebanese perspectives

I was interviewed by OTV (one of the local TV channels in Lebanon) on the highly sensitive subject of women ordination. The priest who was invited too clearly expressed his opposition to women being ordained in orthodox and catholic churches. I presented the Sciences of Religions' perspective, I talked about women pastors and bishops in other Christian churches, about Feminist Theologies, and new archaeological discoveries (murals from the 2nd c. C.E. depicting women priests and bishops for example). I also expressed the importance of opening the door to an intra-sectarian debate about power sharing between the clergy and lay people... However, I discovered that what I explained concerning the latter problematic was censored!!! Welcome to Lebanon !!

Congratulations Dr.

Censorship is indeed one of our biggest problems in Lebanon.

Freedom of thought and expression? Oh!! I wonder.... !!

Congratulations Dr. Chrabieh

I watched the interview and I must agree with you. It does seem cut at the end.

Best wishes!

Love this subject! First time tackled in Lebanon so openly! Still, censorship can't help us move on and build constructive knowledge.

Thank you Dr. Pamela :)
